Bag, recycling

The bag is 100% recycled, made from old materials:
A curtain, a blouse, a skirt and a scarf.

I start to open the sides of an existing shopping bag.
I stitched a patchwork on the outside of the bag,
 sewed the side seam again.

I think it did work out well,

Success, Gerrie.

Oven mitt

Not only pillows and bags are
sewed on my machine

Sometimes an ordenary ovenmitt
has to be replaced in the kitchen

Have fun,
Gerrie

Reparing a quilt

I do not often throw things away

I am more the reparing/recycling type

I did sew blocks on the top of the old blocks

Looks like new

Good luck,

 Gerrie

A new bag

A new shopping bag, this one got
a traditional Portuguese image

"Sardines"

The appliqued sardines,
the first option: an orange sardine in the middle,
I  substituted for a blue one

A button as eye of the fish

Straps,
I took (never used) straps from another bag

And there we have a new shopping bag

Natural Ambience Refreshment

It´s summer again,
 nice warm days.
The windows open for a breeze,
but often the breeze brings flies into the room.

This natural ambient refreshment
Keeps the flies and bees outside.

It is very easy to make an anti-fly
natural refreshment,

Just lemon, rosemary and cloves,
I use the empty cups of the yogurt,
often that are decorative cups.

Slice the lemon and put the cloves in the liquid.
Stick also a bit of the rosemary in the lemon.

Put a cup in every room and the bugs will stay out

Have a nice summer,
Gerrie

Potholder

For a lost hour:
A colorful piece of fabric,
 stitch with an appropriate color,
(including the intermediate layer and back).
For finishing and tab is a recycled t-shirt used.

Recycling or what to do with a big box of scraps

Nowadays you can find great ideas of
what to do with a big box of scraps.
So I did give it a try:

Started with a real easy one, just  yarn and
to decorate a few circles of felt.

I do enjoy the work method.
A quick result and it did not come out bad.

and it is really fun to do,
 I did experiment other processes,
 different materials.

This one I made after seeing Gilda Baron explaining
her work method in Youtube.

Have Fun,

The cold days are coming!

Keep your wrist warm and your hands stay warm.

use an old pair of socks

Cut a little hole for the thumb

When too width, sew a few stitches on the side

Success, Gerrie

Recover a sleeping bag

How to recover a sleeping bag?

A well used sleeping bag with the fabric worn out.

Just in one place, the rest of the sleeping bag is in good state.

Search for a nice fabric in corresponding color.

Measure more than the real distance, just for security.
Cut the new fabric 2 x this size by the width of the sleeping bag.

Sew one side over the width.

Double the fabric,

and sew the short sides.

Turn the fabric inside out over the sleeping bag,

 and sew it together.

You can camping again!

Success,
Gerrie
