Swallow

Swallow
40 x 20 cm.

This Swallow image was in mirror on the pattern.
I did make a copy of it in reverse and did cross stitch it that way.
I think the gravity of this image is better this way.
The pattern is from the magazine "Susanna",
an Italian magazine with many cross stitch patterns.

Cross stitch on colored Aïda

My favorite embroidery is cross stitching,
all stitches the same size, going to the same direction.
The fashion nowadays is "everything is possible", big stitches,
all sorts of fabric put together.
I like to see the results of that, there are very nice mixed media products to find on the net.
But I love order. That´s why i tried this experiment: colored Aïda.

Wet a piece of Aïda,

Cut a few parts of crepe paper

Roll the paper in the fabric,
you don´t need much it has lot´s of ink

Let it dry in the sun.

I like the result and still good  for cross stitching

Have fun, Gerrie

Light through a window

Just because I think it´s beautiful, the projection of the light on the wall
through the window of the door

Enjoy, Gerrie

Pouf

For the pouf I used a quilted topside, that makes a firm pouf.
And it will be more resistant.

The sides were sewn one by one.

Ducks, cross stitch

Just finished those ducks in cross stitch. It is stitched
on Aïda 18 cnt and with one strand.

Personally I think it gives
this sweet scene an even more fragile look.

If you get inspired, you can find the pattern, and other
romantic cross stitch patterns, here:

Potholder

For a lost hour:
A colorful piece of fabric,
 stitch with an appropriate color,
(including the intermediate layer and back).
For finishing and tab is a recycled t-shirt used.

Make up bag

I made another make up bag.

This time, I did give it a tab,
that makes it`s more easy to close the zipper.

A Cute Crossstitch Chicken

A cute chicken.

And there she walks.

And now she walks on a little bag, that can be used
for glasses, a mobile, or other small things.

Sustainable Bread Bag

The end of the existence of the plastic bag in sight!?

I do not think so, but we can help reducing the amount of plastic bags used in our daily life.

So I started with sewing fabric bread bags

Recycling or what to do with a big box of scraps

Nowadays you can find great ideas of
what to do with a big box of scraps.
So I did give it a try:

Started with a real easy one, just  yarn and
to decorate a few circles of felt.

I do enjoy the work method.
A quick result and it did not come out bad.

and it is really fun to do,
 I did experiment other processes,
 different materials.

This one I made after seeing Gilda Baron explaining
her work method in Youtube.

Have Fun,

The cold days are coming!

Keep your wrist warm and your hands stay warm.

use an old pair of socks

Cut a little hole for the thumb

When too width, sew a few stitches on the side

Success, Gerrie

Recover a sleeping bag

How to recover a sleeping bag?

A well used sleeping bag with the fabric worn out.

Just in one place, the rest of the sleeping bag is in good state.

Search for a nice fabric in corresponding color.

Measure more than the real distance, just for security.
Cut the new fabric 2 x this size by the width of the sleeping bag.

Sew one side over the width.

Double the fabric,

and sew the short sides.

Turn the fabric inside out over the sleeping bag,

 and sew it together.

You can camping again!

Success,
Gerrie
